Gary McLoughlin specialises in business and share valuations and providing litigation consulting services.
Prior to joining WHK Gosling Chapman (and Horwath Porter Wiggleworth), Gary was responsible for Arthur Andersen's Litigation Consulting Services practice in New Zealand, where he was a Director.
Since immigrating to New Zealand in 1987, Gary has specialised in the provision of litigation support services. These services often include the valuation of businesses and unlisted equities. He regularly prepares and gives evidence before the Courts and other Tribunals. Gary is predominantly engaged in financial analysis to provide strategic advice on the assessment of damages and loss of profit claims and to assist legal counsel increase their effectiveness. As well, he has broad experience in the valuation of business enterprises, shareholders equity and intangible assets.
Gary completed a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Cape Town in 1986, where he majored in Finance and Statistical Analysis. Gary has been responsible for or assisted with the preparation of a number of independent appraisal and expert reports prepared for the Surveillance Panel of the New Zealand Stock Exchange in the context of proposed takeovers and/or transactions involving associated parties.
As a Fellow of the Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of New Zealand, Gary assists in the resolution of financial disputes by means other than litigation. He has arbitrated commercial and other disputes.
Gary is regularly retained by matrimonial property lawyers to assist in the identification, quantification and settlement of matrimonial assets. He frequently assists the parties and their counsel at settlement conference negotiations to resolve financial disputes before the issue reaches a Court hearing.
